Deathbore laid on his throne looking down at the team. He brushed off something on the platform and smiled. “I’d like to thank you all for helping me reclaim the Underworld. Duty or not, I would be lost without my domain.” Deathbore’s gaze landed on Trevor. “I especially want to thank you, Trevor. Without your quick thinking to use Brokenstar’s influence against him, we never would’ve stopped him.” “Thank you,” Trevor graced and bowed his head slightly. Deathbore nodded to him before pointing a claw to the empty space beside his throne. A blue portal appeared and Deathbore looked to the team. “We still have the matter of Brokenstar’s Shadow Dragon abilities,” Anna stated. “I’m sure you will figure it out in time. For now, you all deserve a break, my niece,” Deathbore replied and Anna nodded before looking to the team. “Let’s go home.” ~oOo~ Trevor leaned his arms on the fence of the griffin field. The wind blew his hair away from his face and he inhaled the fresh air. He felt

Trevor’s eyes snapped open, he was still in the cavern he was in before, though his body was in perfect shape, no burn from...whatever it was that he was hit with. Brokenstar and Demise were gone. “What the hell was that...?” Trevor asked himself and stood. “An illusion.” Trevor turned to see the team standing behind him. “Agony was known to create illusions...I wonder if somehow...” Deathbore started and Anna looked at him. “You think they’re going to rise again?” Anna asked. “I don’t know. I truly hope not and remain as legends. We never saw them in our lives and let’s keep it that way.” Deathbore started past Trevor to a corridor behind the platform. “Why did you run off?” Anna demanded. Trevor flinched before exhaling and facing her. “I don’t know. I saw something and felt I needed to follow it,” Trevor stated and Anna searched his eyes. “Demise?” Anna questioned. “WHAT?!” Deathbore roared. “That sleazy Nega Dragon freed the Death Dragon fledgling?!” Deathbore hurried back

Trevor was launched from the portal and right on top of Brenda. “Trevor!” Brenda snapped. Trevor rolled off his sister and shook himself out. “Sorry,” Trevor whispered, his voice holding uncertainty and a touch of fear. The rest of the team was a few yards away in what could only be described as hell. It was like they were in a dark cavern of some kind, they stood on pinkish-red stone while the walls held brown stone and in random places fires crackled. Trevor flicked his tongue out and felt how hot and dry the air was. “So this is the Underworld,” David mused, looking around. “Doesn’t seem...too bad.” He looked back at Trevor. “Stay on your toes, guys. No telling what’s here,” Trevor warned and hurried forward to join up with the rest of the team. “No welcome committee, I expected Brokenstar to have guards on this end too,” Deathbore stated. “A Hell Dragon or two at least. Maybe he couldn’t get the bastards to listen to him.” Deathbore chuckled and turned to the team. “Alright

Brokenstar paced frantically in the throne room. He sent so many creatures on purpose, the Compass Dragons should’ve come through the portals by now, where were they? You do nothing but underestimate them! Brokenstar growled and ignored Cenod. Demise watched nearby, scared to speak. Brokenstar had been on edge since his last order. Being in control of the Underworld gave him so much more power, but he couldn’t bring that power to the Compass Dragons. He’d have to bring the fight to him. But it wasn’t as easy as he thought. They aren’t going to jump on a problem right away! They plan and rest before tackling it. Don’t be an idiot. “Demise! Leave!” Brokenstar roared. Demise squeaked and flew out quickly. Brokenstar tossed his head, Cenod slamming into a nearby wall. “Shut up!” He pinned Cenod to the wall by the shadow’s neck. “Kill me and Master will have your head,” Cenod warned. Brokenstar bared his teeth at Cenod whose white teeth started to appear in the shape of a sheepish

Trevor sat in his room writing notes that his siblings had taken for classes that he missed that morning. He read through what was required for his classes in the textbooks. As he was in the middle of his history reading, there was a knock on the door. David looked up from the book he borrowed from the library and dropped from his bed. Trevor looked up to see who was at the door. “Trevor?” Kathey had paid them a visit. Trevor set the book down and stood from his bed. “Yes?” “Come with me please, don’t worry about getting changed.” Trevor exchanged a glance with David before following Kathey to her office. She sat at her desk and picked up a cellphone, handing it to him. Trevor recognized it as his own. “I had Sylark retrieve your cell phone for two purposes. One is to see the worry your girlfriend has had the past few days since you became sick.” Kathey was silent, waiting for Trevor to open the messages. Trevor? Baby are you ok? Trevor?! Baby please, talk to me! I can’t lose

Trevor sat silently at breakfast, picking at his omelet. David and Aya were deep in conversation about potions and Brenda was reading through her Magic book. Trevor exhaled and dropped his fork, pushing his plate away and grabbing an apple from the bowl of fruit in the middle of the table. He stood up and headed out, ignoring his siblings’ calls to him. Trevor walked out and to the stables, stopping by Stephanie’s stall. “Back again? You know Kathey will have your head if you don’t go to classes today,” Malice stated from his usual napping spot. Seemed like he didn’t stick around for breakfast long either. “I’m aware, but I have an hour until they start,” Trevor snapped. “You need to get over this, Trevor. You can’t be a mother hen to a full grown griffin who knows exactly what she did and she doesn’t regret it. Don’t hover over her, get to class.” Trevor rolled his eyes and ignored Malice. “Trevor.” Kathey’s unmistakable, stern voice, caught Trevor’s attention. Trevor froze for

Trevor’s eyes scanned the forest under them. It was the first time they had ever actually flown outside of the academy grounds. Before they reached the outskirts of Drake, the dragons landed. The griffins followed them down and landed gracefully. Trevor noticed his siblings finally relaxed. First time flying on griffins, something they should’ve learned before actually going into it. Anna turned to them. “You all have done well these past few days, I’m impressed. This is the final test before I’ll consider you four allies of mine on my team,” she started. Looking between the four siblings. “You are to follow every order I give you, either verbally or telepathically. You will be cautious and watch each other’s backs. Hellhounds are dangerous creatures, but cannot take on four dragons at once. You have managed to turn dragon and you understand how to move your bodies. Use that to your advantage if the griffins can’t protect you.” Trevor nodded, as did his siblings. “Good, now, the first

Six days later brought about a clear, sunny day. Though it wasn’t a day for enjoying the sunshine as Trevor fell from the air, grunting as he landed on one of his wings. He stood and stretched his wing, looking up at his siblings hovering above him. “You alright, Trevor?” Brenda called down to him. Trevor snorted and shook himself out, watching his siblings for a moment. “Yeah, I’m fine.” Trevor mumbled. He exhaled slowly before looking over at the flight teachers. Trevor wasn’t sure about them, considering one stood in his dragon form while the other sat on his back in her human form. The dragon was Sonar, the blind male who had woken them up their first morning at Voutneth. He was an Earth Dragon that was truly blind. He looked as though he stared off into space all the time. The human on his back was a Water Dragon that went by the name Tikimune. She was a handicapped dragon, having only one wing. The combination of a blind dragon and a dragon that couldn’t even fly brought some

The day ended after some more boring classes that Trevor and his siblings had before they sat for dinner. They had chicken on the menu tonight and the four of them dug in without hesitation. David and Aya sat talking about the griffins still while they ate and Trevor watched them with a smile on his face. Maybe they were meant for this life. Everything they’ve experienced so far was better than he could’ve imagined. Despite the issue with his classmates in the transformation control that was mandatory, the students were served, teachers were standing up for the newbies and it felt...good. “So what do we do now?” David asked. “It’s still early, but classes are over.” “He’s got a point, what do we do now?” Brenda wondered. Trevor pulled the booklet from his pocket and looked at it. “The typical schedule says its sports and clubs for the next two hours. We’re not really part of any of that. A library was mentioned, what do we say we do some reading?” Trevor suggested. Aya and David

After a hard morning of learning typical school things, Trevor and his siblings finally sat down for lunch. Aya and David laughed about their Potions class while munching on nachos. Trevor watched them as he sipped at his water. “You know, I’ve noticed something,” Brenda piped up. Trevor looked at her, lowering his water bottle. “What’s that?” he asked. “The food. They’re not health obsessed at all. Breakfast, they gave us any kind we wanted, even chocolate chip. These nachos...you can taste the grease in the meat.” “We’re dragons now. With all the exercise we get, no doubt we burn all the calories.” “Learn to live a little you four,” A voice piped up behind them. Trevor looked over his shoulder to see the other man that had been sitting with Sylark and Zoymey. “This stuff is all natural, that’s better than the crap they put in human school lunches. Drake is great for that. You four are with me in the stable after lunch, I checked my list. You’re all in for a treat.” With that
